Overview

A Hotel Management Company is seeking a motivated, innovative, collaborative, and experienced professional to serve as the new Corporate Director of Finance.

This role is responsible for leading the company’s portfolio of hotels’ accounting controller, corporate accounting staff, and outsourcing company to ensure accurate, transparent, and timely financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, and asset, and liability reconciliation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively with the Corporate Controller, Senior Manager and Executives, and other Operational Leaders to determine opportunities to fine tune processes that will drive both short-term and long-term improvements to the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial reporting packages in conformity with appropriate accounting standards.
  • Monthly review of the Hotel’s accounts receivable and preparing appropriate bad debt/allowance entries.
  • Work directly with external auditors and tax preparers to ensure timely delivery of annual audits and tax returns.
  • Provide detailed performance feedback on a monthly basis for his/her direct team and all other personnel related to the monthly financial statement closing process.
  • Review, recommend, and drive financial reporting process improvements.
  • Ensure all deadlines are scheduled and met on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis (e.g., payment of sales and occupancy taxes, payment of property taxes, etc.)
  • Support, train and coach corporate accounting team and hotel controllers to ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, accounts reconciliations, forecast and budgets.
  • Weekly meetings with the Executive team.
  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of cash flow forecasts.
  • Lead/participate in onboarding and training for new accounting hires (at corporate and in the field).
  • Develop, monitor, and report compliance on internal controls.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in finding and implementing their solutions.
  • Analyze financial data and operations in order to assist and advise management in maintaining the hotels’ financial objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ten years recommended of related progressive experience in hotel Accounting or related field; 4-year college degree with an Accounting/ Finance concentration and a minimum of 6-years of related progressive experience.
  • Strong knowledge and ability reading, analyzing, and understanding financial statements, loan documents, lease agreements and contracts.
  • Prior oversight of accounting teams.
  • Ability to manage internal teammates at all levels of the organization.
  • Proactive, independent, forward-thinking, trustworthy, and hands-on finance executive.
  • A dynamic team player who is a quick study and can think creatively and effectively challenging existing practices.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
