Overview

An upscale beach resort & spa nestled directly on Kauai Beach is seeking a determined, creative, self-starter to serve as the new Director of Sales

The Director of Sales Resort is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities while cultivating and maintaining client relationships to achieve sales targets. The ideal candidate is an experienced sales professional with a strong client base, a proven track record, and a solid reputation in the upscale hotel sector. They will take a proactive approach to sales, seeking new business opportunities and leveraging existing relationships while also nurturing existing resort clients through a deep understanding of strategic selling. The successful candidate will collaborate across departments and properties, utilizing the commercial business unit structure to meet group sales goals. This role requires an in-market presence on property.

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in a mid-market to luxury market position; minimum three years of supervisory experience, Hawaii market experience is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, Travel Industry Management or a related fields is required.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Delphi FDC and PMS experience is preferred.

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, engage, motivate, discipline and coach hosts to higher levels of effectiveness both as individuals and as an integrated team; and/or to effect needed change within the area with professionalism and in collaboration with HR and Legal.
  • Demonstrated success, knowledge, experience and effectiveness in the sales network and distribution systems for Hawaii markets (FIT, MICE, groups). Proven ability to successfully create and execute strategies that generate leads for sales, and that result in the right mix of occupancy and ADR for profitability. Proactive in identifying appropriate strategies, initiatives, programs to generate sales that result in required revenue.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and work in teams to achieve desired results, and to work independently; approachable, ability to meet and exceed expectations with limited supervision in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed deadlines, consistently. Excellent follow- through, persistence, and “can do” actions. Takes initiative, embraces change productively, is creative, flexible, and proactive.
